I'm sorry to hear your chili crop is having issues with whiteflies. This is a common problem for chili farmers. Let me provide some advice to help you manage this pest:

  1. Identification: First, make sure you've correctly identified whiteflies. They are tiny, white, flying insects usually found on the undersides of leaves 🍃.

  2. Prevention of spread: Whiteflies can spread leaf curl virus in chili plants. It's important to control them quickly to prevent this disease from affecting your crop [*].

  3. Chemical control options: Several insecticides can be effective against whiteflies, including:

    • Cypermethrin
    • Deltamethrin
    • Imidacloprid
    • Thiamethoxam [*]However, be cautious as whiteflies can quickly develop resistance to chemicals.
  4. Seed treatment: As a preventive measure, you can treat chili seeds with imidacloprid (3-5 g/kg of seed) before planting [†].

  5. Natural and organic methods: Consider using organic options like neem oil, pyrethrins, or horticultural oils. These can be effective and are less likely to harm beneficial insects 🐞 [‡].

  6. Cultural practices:

    • Remove and destroy heavily infested plant
